Christmas is a beautiful time of year. The smell of family is in the air. School’s out, presents are on the way and depending on where you live, snow may be falling. While the Christmas season can be amazing, it can also be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Here’s a list of the top ten things to avoid during Christmas…
10. Keep the fruit cake idea as just an idea
No one in there right mind wants to eat this thing. It’s not even a real cake. If you want fruit so bad, an assorted arraignment of fruit will do just fine.
9. Don’t do “Secret Santa” at work
You don’t know these people and they don’t know you. If you wouldn’t dig in your pocket and give 5 dollars to the homeless man you see on the street everyday going to work, why spend $25 on someone else just because you share a parking garage? At least you know what the homeless man looks like outside of work.
8. Leave the Christmas stockings on TV
Unless the stocking are filled with hundreds of dollars or are big enough to fit a new flat-screen TV in it, there’s really no need for them.
7. No GAG gifts allowed
Christmas is a time for jolly, not cynical laughter. Yes, socks are GAG gifts as well.
6. Don’t watch the news
You have 364 other days to be down and depressed.
5. Don’t be super boyfriend
Unless you have the approval of her friends, sisters, mother or have been married to her for more than 15 years, clothes are not a good idea for a Christmas gift.
4. Don’t go shopping on Christmas Eve
Your life is not a movie.
3. Don’t try to catch Santa in the act
If you’ve made it this far and still haven’t been told the harsh truth that Santa isn’t real, keep believing. If your mother told you that Santa likes Vanilla Wafers and Pepsi instead of 2% whole milk, just go with it.
2. Don’t pretend to celebrate other religions or cultures to avoid paying for presents
Oh now you wanna be a Jehova’s Witness or celebrate Kwanzaa by making presents instead of buying them.
1. Don’t waste money going to see Christmas lights
You’re neighbors and people in other neighborhoods spent good money turning their houses into big Christmas trees. Show them you care by driving past and admiring for free.
